BICYCLE EDUCATION

What is Effective Cycling?

The League of American Bicyclists (LAB) BikeEd courses are based on the concept of Effective Cycling, developed by John Forester and most fully explored in his book Effective Cycling. Effective Cycling observes, simply, that “Cyclists fare best when they act and are treated as drivers of vehicles.”

Click here to visit Forester’s Web site and to read about Effective Cycling in his own words. Be sure to check out his discussion on American bicycle politics.

Visit Bicyclesafe.com for an alternative, critical point of view of Effective Cycling.
